Illegal Campaign Contributions

One thing I noticed in Brit Hume's piece on Obama's trip to Germany:

Not Everyone In Germany Ecstatic About Obama's Berlin Speech

He notes that half of the three-quarter of a million dollar price tag was being paid for by the German taxpayers.  Therefore:
  1. Shouldn't this be considered a foreign campaign contribution?  The German portion of his trip was campaign financed (see http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/07/24/obama-cancels-visit-to-us-troops-in-germany/ as it explains why he didn't visit wounded troops).  Therefore if part of the cost is paid by Germans, aren't they (some unwillingly) contributing to his campaign?
  2. Why is he campaigning in a foreign country?  He is running for President of the United States, not King of the World.  I think it adds nicely to his aura of arrogance.
  3. Hey, at least this time, he wasting somebody else's money, not ours.

Jeremiah Wright lets the cat out of the bag - Obama is a politician

So Barack Obama is finally denouncing the pronouncements of his mentor, pastor Jeremiah Wright, and distancing himself from him.  But what did he say at the National Press Club or the NAACP or in the Bill Moyers puff-piece interview that he hasn't already said?

He (Wright) said Obama is distancing himself because he is a (pardon my language here) "politician"!!  EGAD!!!!  Barack Obama is supposed to be a new type of leader, not a politician, but somebody who will bring everybody today in a big, national group hug.

So, did Obama attend that United Trinity Chuch for 20 years to establish "street cred" but really didn't believe what was said, or is he throwing his mentor/pastor under the bus because he no longer serves his purposes?
